We meet regularly for meditation and supplemental training, and we host retreats and special events throughout the year.

For First-Time Visitors:
We invite new visitors to join us on Tuesdays for meditation instruction from a roshi or senior student. These sessions include time for questions. First-time guests must RSVP by completing this form, and the required waiver and should arrive a few minutes before 7 PM. For instruction visits, we request a donation of $20.

For Regular Attendees:
We encourage regular attendees to set up a recurring $60 “Supporting Member” monthly donation to help cover operating expenses. Alternatively, a donation of $10 is appreciated for single visits.

Donations can be made via PayPal, by mailing a check, or by dropping cash or a check in our donation box.

Transformative Practices: Daiyuzenji offers a range of meditative practices that complement our Zen training. These practices are open to beginners and are taught by highly qualified instructors dedicated to sharing their expertise.

WEEKLY SCHEDULE:

Tuesdays, Thursdays: 7 P.M. — 9 P.M. CST

Tuesdays are via Zoom or in-person and include two periods of zazen (seated meditation) followed by (in-person only) supplemental practices such as calligraphy, chanting, breathing and stretching exercises, etc. Please note that we will be practicing shodo (way of the brush) following zazen (seated meditation) on Tuesdays in October and November.

Thursdays include one period of zazen followed by hojo practice.

WEDNESDAYS: 6 P.M. — 6:45 P.M. CST

Wednesday meetings consist of zazen.

Sundays: 8:30 a.m. — 10:30 a.m. CST

Sundays are via Zoom or in person. Online Sunday programming consists of two periods of zazen followed by book discussion. To request the link, click here.

In-person Sundays consist of two periods of zazen followed by shakyo (sutra copying) practice. Beginners welcome; materials provided. To RSVP, click here.

When you visit our space, please consider the following:

  • Always be respectful to our temple and practices, and other practitioners. 

  • Remove hats, shoes, and socks before entering the zendo.

  • Wear plain, dark-colored, loose clothing so you can sit for the entire period of teaching and practice without discomfort; most jeans are unsuitable. Shorts, short skirts, and revealing clothes aren't allowed.

  • Silence cell phones so as not to disturb others.

  • Move around the space mindfully, and do not make unnecessary noise.
